We decided, with the New Year, our name needed a tweak so that it truly reflects our passion & mission and how we work with people to realize their vision.
First and foremost, we see ourselves as environmental stewards. As builders, we consider the long-term effect of the building process as it relates to resource management, fossil fuel use and carbon footprint. We are mindful that 50-100 yrs. from now, the global landscape is likely to be very different and how we build our homes and buildings today – how energy efficient they are and how they impact the planet in other ways – will affect how we live in the future. As parents, we want to do our part to ensure there are resources left for our children, their children and beyond. To build any other way doesn’t make sense to us.
While it’s challenging to sum up why we do, what we do in one word, ‘green’ does a pretty good job, so ‘green’ it is.
We are thrilled that designing and building homes the way we do also enables our clients to enjoy significant quality-of-life benefits: freedom, peace of mind, comfort and healthier indoor living spaces. The freedom that comes from immediately putting their money to much better use versus spending it needlessly on high energy bills. Peace of mind from knowing if energy costs rise in the future, the impact on them will be reduced substantially. Enjoyment from living in homes that are truly comfortable to be in because the temperature is consistent throughout, there are no cold/hot spots or drafts and outdoor noise is reduced so indoor spaces are serene. Healthier homes to live in due to a fresh air exchange system that continuously filters the air to ensure it’s free of allergens, pollutants, and toxins and careful selection of materials such as low VOC paints and natural floor finishes.
Homes that offer these benefits come in all shapes, sizes and styles; and since there is no single all-encompassing method, ‘green’ is a pretty good catch-all phrase to describe them.
Onto the second part of our name tweak. We have always been builders, but very often, we also help our clients with so much more. Whether we start at the very beginning to develop and define the vision and scope for their project, evaluate the suitability of land and/or the potential of an existing home, develop and/or evaluate design possibilities, we guide clients wherever they may be in their process. And, importantly, we do this in concert with their budget parameters as early as possible to ensure that their project planning and design work is viable and on track for a successful build.
In a nutshell, ‘Green’ is the work we want to put our name on. ‘Design & Build’ is what we offer. But it’s fine if you still want to just call us ‘CELEBRATION’.
